Overview

SpeedIsle ("the app") respects and protects your privacy. The app doesn't require an account, doesn't collect your name, phone number, email or other personal information, and contains no ads or third-party analytics SDKs.

Network traffic data

The app reads the iPhone's system-wide network interface counters to calculate live speed and daily traffic statistics. This data stays on your iPhone and is never uploaded to any server. The app can't and won't read the websites you visit, app content, or data from other apps.

Location

With your permission, the app uses location to: (1) record your personal tracks (the routes you travel, plus the network type and speed at the time), also in the background if you choose "Always"; (2) measure travel speed; (3) read the name of the connected Wi‑Fi network to show on the Lock Screen and Dynamic Island (iOS requires location permission to read Wi‑Fi names). Tracks are stored on your iPhone. If "Sync to iCloud" is on (default; you can turn it off in the menu on the Tracks tab), tracks are also stored in the private iCloud space of your own Apple ID so they can be restored on a new iPhone or after reinstalling. Only you can access your private iCloud space; the developer cannot see it, and the app has no server of its own. You can delete your tracks on the Tracks tab at any time (this also deletes the iCloud copy) or turn off location access in Settings.

Speed test

Speed tests connect to public test servers to download and upload test data: usually Cloudflare (speed.cloudflare.com); in mainland China, download and ping tests use Tencent Cloud's mirror (mirrors.cloud.tencent.com). Website speed tests visit the listed websites directly. Like any website, these servers see your IP address. The app sends them nothing else. Results stay on your iPhone.

Device status

CPU, memory, battery, storage, air pressure, motion and other values on the Device and Live tabs are read locally and never uploaded. To show your public IP address and region, the app requests Cloudflare's public endpoint (www.cloudflare.com/cdn-cgi/trace), which sees your IP address. Reading the barometer and today's steps requires Motion & Fitness permission, which you can turn off in Settings at any time. If you import an Analytics file to see battery health, the file is read on your iPhone only; just the cycle count and capacity are kept.

Purchases

Purchases and subscriptions are handled by Apple's App Store. The app never sees your payment information; it only receives from Apple whether a purchase is valid.

Notifications

With your permission, the app sends local notifications, such as cellular data usage alerts and trial reminders. They're generated on your iPhone and never pass through any server.

Deleting data

Deleting the app deletes all data it stores on your iPhone. Tracks stored in your iCloud are not removed with the app: before deleting, choose "Delete Track History" on the Tracks tab, or remove the app's data in Settings → Apple ID → iCloud → Manage Storage.
